Textile Sample QC Checklist
1. Burn test — fiber truth
| Fiber | Residue | Smell |
| Cotton / linen | Soft grey ash, crumbles | Burning paper |
| Silk / wool | Black bead, crushable | Burning hair |
| Polyester / acrylic | Hard black bead — will not crush | Sweet / acrid chemical |
| Rayon | Soft ash but burns fast & bright | Paper-like |
2. Colorfastness
- Dry rub: white cloth, 10 firm strokes — any transfer = reject
- Wet rub: damp white cloth — visible transfer = fail
- Jar wash: swatch + white strip, warm water + detergent, shake 15 min — white strip must stay white
3. GSM (weight)
Cut exactly 20 × 25 cm, weigh in grams, multiply by 20. Standard cotton-linen cloths run 180–230 GSM; thickened faux-linen 230–280; voile 60–90.
4. Construction
- Seam pull test; count 10+ stitches per 2.5 cm
- Hem depth variance under 5 mm
- Grain check: hold by one corner — must hang square
- Pull every tassel once
5. Hardware & coatings
- Zippers: 3 full cycles
- PVC fold test: 60 s tight fold, no cracking/whitening; oil wipe leaves no ghost
- Metal: 24 h damp-bag test, no orange spotting
- Elastic: 5 full stretches, <10% permanent elongation
